Our Gordon Setters
 

1. Health

Breeding lively hunting dogs which adore and  need  to  move, we think that their health should be our most important aspect. Of course, we cannot give any guarantee but the Tarock’s profit from the large „pool of information" about three important
and well-known German and French Gordon Setter kennels:

    - des Pierres du Jour (Belfleur, Brio, Fiver's, Flambo, Jagger)
     -  Amscot Jetsetter (bred from the Boyer's line)
    - vom Eixelberg (Marlon, Wayne)
    - Black Devil's Quasimodo

We only breed from the best dams – according to our best knowledge and good conscience. We motivate our puppy-owners to have their Gordons x-rayed in order to give us good arguments to this point. Half of all Tarock’s puppies have been x-rayed and 90 % of them are exempt of hip-dysplasia.

2. Character

The breed of hunting dogs in the 21st century and moreover the German breed of specialists made for hunting partridge in the Scottish highlands is not without problems. We are aware of the fact that not all Tarock’s can live their lives going hunting every day, although we would certainly appreciate this situation.

We know, however, that nowadays each dog-owner needs a well-tempered friend
to share his life with. Hunting dogs of which their natural abilities are no longer tested at special competitions loose their inherited breed-character:  You will find
nervousness instead of relaxed behaviour; fear instead of pride and neglectance instead of intelligence.

We breed with happy and proud Gordon Setters,
with excellent temperament and character
and all our puppy-buyers are accompanied not only up to our front door.

  3. Work

Working with our Gordon Setters means a lot of fun to us and for hunting we
need well-trained reliable dogs. Those who achieve a Tarock’s puppy and who
do not share this ambition could anyhow become excellent Gordon Setter owners.
But they should never forget, that they got a very fast hunting dog with an excellent nose quality.

         
If possible, however, every Gordon puppy owner should take part in an adequate competition at least once. We will help you in preparing your Gordon Setter and we could also handle the dog for you. The results of Tarock’s Gordon Setters at hunting competitions are very important indicators for any future breed planning. The more puppy-owners support us in this matter, the „better" we can breed.

4. Beauty

At a show it is not so important which of the Gordons is the most „beautiful" one or which is not. Shows are hold in order to give special showjudges the opportunity to compare the Gordon Setters with the internationally fixed FCI breed standard and
to find out which of the dogs are good, very good or even excellent.

The more dogs of our kennel are shown, the more interesting it is for us. Only then
we can see which advantages or problems might be in our litters and which dam or sire is dominating concerning which morphological facts.
